Dear drivers with duelers, boxers, and other argumentative characters who like taking things to a physical level,
Please note that while Hogwarts is in session, your character is at boarding school. While there are unsupervised situations that can be found at boarding school, public places including the common rooms, hallways, grounds, and bathrooms are generally at least semi-supervised and fights are somewhat obvious to the authority figures of our canon environment.
In the case of a fight, in order to preserve the canon Harry Potter school situation, our in character staff members do reserve the right to step in even if a thread is tagged private. This means a prefect, head student, or teacher will join your thread and there will be some in character consequence (points loss and detentions usually) for your fight.
Please don't fret about this! We don't hate you, the driver, we don't hate your cousin or your puppy or even your mom. We're not punishing you, the character is interacting with your character in a school environment manner. It's simply unrealistic for people to be hexing each other funky colors in a common area and have it go unnoticed.
If you would like to plot out your fight and propose a certain ending for it, please PM a prefect, a head student, or a canon teacher, and we can talk things out. We're here to work with you while we try to keep the overall board story environment true to the books by JK Rowling.
Professors' 'solutions' to fights will not always be 'fair' or 'equal' (50 points from Gryffindor! Thanks, Hermione.) but they will stick to the professor's driver's interpretation of their canon. We may even be able to delay the discovery/consequences of the fight so that there is no direct intervention until later depending on the circumstances. In the end though, the staff is here mainly to help create the canon experience, so they will have to stick with what they feel is right for their character when dealing with the fight. Talk to us! We'll work something out.
